how to write like a woman

I'm working on a story where one of the main characters is a trans woman, and I'm doing my best to make her authentic. I'm familiar with all the stereotypes and the pitfalls to avoid, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas about her personality. I tried my best to think of a woman I know who has a somewhat similar background to what I'm trying to write, but she's not very well known.

I was thinking about doing some research about women like her, but the problem is I don't know where to start. I know I can find some general advice about women, but I'm not looking for some outdated stereotype or a straw feminist. I want to write this character as accurately as I can, and I need to know what makes her tick.

I'm starting to think that I should step away from the story and do some actual people-watching to get a better idea of what real women think and act like. I think the best way to get into a woman's head is to hear her voice, but I don't know of any good resources for that either.

I'm a bit worried about getting too much inspiration from a single person, though, because I don't want to base my character too much on someone specific. At the same time, I'm worried that if I use traits from too many different people, I'll end up with a character that's inconsistent. If I use too many different voices, I don't want her to end up sounding like Frankenstein's monster or something.

What are some good ways for a guy to get into a woman's head? What are some common things that make real women think? What advice do you have for writing women who are complex and multi-dimensional?
