What would the world be like if the sun went out or became a red giant?

I've been reading through a lot of articles and studies on what would occur if our solar system suddenly lost its star, and I would love to hear your thoughts on what would happen.<br><br>#1. The Planet would eventually become a frozen black planet and become one with space<br><br>This is theoretically what would occur if our sun were to become a red giant, which is theoretically what would happen if our sun were to become about 10% larger. This is not the same as what would occur if the sun were to not steadily increase in size and emit radiation, but what would occur if the fusion generation were to suddenly cease and the sun just became a ball of hot light.<br><br>Eventually, the planet would become a black ice planet, and would steadily begin to not steadily increase in size, but instead steadily begin to shrink and shrink until it became a black ice planet, eventually becoming a "featureless black ice planet indistinguishable from the interstellar medium". This is what would eventually become of our solar system and planet earth.
