I want to die - today I learned I am a "Sexist"

I'm on the fence on posting this I'm just hoping people will understand how I feel<br><br>Ok so I met my current girlfriend about a year ago. We are in the UK and she was homeless and had no money to her name. For the past year she have been trying to get a house but has not been able to, in the past I have worked in a homeless shelter, so I know how difficult it is and I knew for sure if I had done anything to upset her she will go back to that place and I don't want that to happen.<br><br>So I have been taking care of her for the past year and she has been with me the entire time and I have been paying for everything.<br><br>I have 3 sisters and all of them are strong and independent women, none of them have ever relied on a man for anything and I have grown up on the idea that women can take care of themselves and that is what I believe in and that is how I want to live my life.<br><br>So recently I was talking to some of my friends online and they were all saying how great I am for taking care of my girlfriend and helping her out in her times of need and all of that nonsense.<br><br>Then I made the comment that I'm not doing anything to help her out, I'm just dating her, like how a man would date a woman, he takes her out, he buys her flowers, he takes care of her.<br><br>Little did I know........<br><br>Yesterday my girlfriend went and stayed with her friend, I thought it was odd but I didn't think much of it and I didn't want to be controlling and accusatory so I waited for her to come back. She came back this morning and she was angry.<br><br>Apparently her friend went through our chatlogs and read all of our messages and she found the comment I made about why I am helping her out, and showed it to my girlfriend and that's why she got angry and left.<br><br>I have no idea why she is so angry, I don't think I have done anything wrong and I don't think there is anything wrong with my comment.<br><br>She told me that I have been calling her weak and that I am "Sexist" this is bullshit, I want all women to be strong and independent just like I want all men to be and I want to take care of my girlfriend just like any other man would in a relationship and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.<br><br>She said she wants to break up with me and I want to die, I don't even have anyone to talk to about this, if I post this in other places on the internet I know I will get lynched and my reputation will be ruined.<br><br>If anyone is going to message and insult me in this post, then I'm going to ask you to please leave me alone, this is the only place I can talk about this.<br><br>Honestly I don't even know what to do, I feel like I have been punched in the gut, I'm just so confused and I don't know what to do.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit: I wanted to add that I know I am not in the wrong, I know I made the right decision to help my girlfriend, I know I am not a sexist person.<br><br>The reason I am so upset is not because I got dumped, it's because I thought my girlfriend was someone I could trust and rely on and she is not that person.<br><br>I am upset because I was hurt by her, not because I was dumped.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit #2:<br><br>I want to say thank you to everyone who has been giving me advice and has been supportive. It means a lot to me.<br><br>I was surprised to see so many women defending me and giving me advice and that they don't think I have done anything wrong.<br><br>I have read through all the comments and I am going to talk to her tomorrow and hear her out.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit #3:<br><br>I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and has given me advice, it means so much to me that there are good people on the internet who care.<br><br>I got home today and she was there, she said she was sorry and she wants to talk about it. <br><br>She said she feels disrespected because I said she was weak and she was angry about it, and that she wants to know why I said what I said.<br><br>I told her that I didn't say anything wrong and that I don't think she is weak, I said I don't think any of that was wrong and there is no reason to be upset.<br><br>She said that she feels like I don't think she can take care of herself and that I'm protecting her like a baby.<br><br>I told her that I don't think that and there is no reason to feel that way, that I am just doing what any reasonable boyfriend would do in a relationship.<br><br>She was still angry and said that she thinks I see her as a damsel in distress and that I think she is stupid.<br><br>I don't think she is stupid and there is no reason for her to think that, but I don't want to fight her anymore and I want this to end so I said fine and told her that I think she is stupid and weak, that I am protecting her like a baby and that I think she is dumb.<br><br>Now she is upset and saying that she is going to break up with me and she never wants to see me again.<br><br>I don't even care anymore, I just want her to leave me alone.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit #4:<br><br>I want to say thank you to everyone who has been helping me and giving me advice, I really appreciate it.<br><br>I'm not good with relationships and I don't have any experience so it's good to talk to people who have and can give me advice.<br><br>I just wanted to update on the situation.<br><br>I have been talking to my girlfriend and she is still angry and upset, I told her that I don't think she is weak or stupid and I just want to be with her and take care of her, like a boyfriend is supposed to do.<br><br>She said she is angry because she feels like she can't do anything for herself and that I say and do things that hurt her feelings.<br><br>I don't know how I can fix this, I know I have done nothing wrong and I don't think she should be angry with me for being a loving boyfriend.<br><br>I asked her what can I do to fix this and make her feel better and she said she doesn't know.<br><br>I don't know what to do anymore, I want to get over this hump and be happy with my girlfriend.<br><br>&#x200B;
