The environment will always come before you. Never forget it.

I’ve seen a lot of people lately (men and women) complaining about the lights off movement, referencing others’ innocence, who haven’t asked for this war, and other emotional stuff like that. I get it. I’m also against the war and the ways people are trying to be punished. I don’t like when certain groups are targeted as the guilty ones. I’m against the aggressive politic that we see, because it mainly doesn’t get us anywhere at all. I can understand these people as well because I’m also one of them, more or less.

But I don’t agree with a certain type of growing selfishness or a growing sense of entitlement that I see on the internet. Those people, with their self pity, who say that they already do whatever they can for the environment, and now they have to sit in the dark, like they’re living in a primitive era.

People complaining on how they have to buy super expensive energy, open to a certain idea of self-pity, that already they are doing so much for the environment and yet, they’re still expected to do more. Those are the people I normally see in shopping malls, supermarkets, train stations, etc. Why does the environment have to be secondary to their regular needs of the day? They are people who don’t support the environment as much as they claim, they just like to be told that they do.

I support the lights off movement. We should be lights off, or at least, those who already know better, we all should do it. It’s not rocket science, it doesn’t require a big effort, it’s easy, we all can do it. We can save energy for those who need it more.

I support the reduction of energy prices as well. Not because I’m a victim, that I open myself up to be told how much I do for the environment. But because these prices are mainly affecting the innocent population, who already doesn’t have any power in doing anything to end this war. I don’t want people freezing at home, I don’t want them to be lights off as a punishment. I want people to have the support they need, because they need it, not because they claim to be the victims.
