Lost a friend because I refused to order an epic snack fest at a movie theater

We used to be pretty good friends, but now I'm gonna have to spread my wings and fly again. <br><br>Last night we went to the movies and I suggested we skip the snack bar and bring our own snacks in. She refused to do that, and I said, "You're my guest! You're welcome to bring whatever you want" and that's all I said. <br><br>Then she started getting a little stern and said I wasn't a good friend. I said, "I'm not a good friend? I don't want to buy popcorn at the snack bar because it's a rip-off and it's a rip-off whether you buy it or I buy it." <br><br>I said, "You're my guest so I'll be happy to buy snacks at the supermarket and we can bring them in with us. We can get all the stuff you need in one aisle, and it will cost about $5. We can have all the snacks we want, and there's plenty of variety in one place. Or if you want to get your snacks from specialty stores, we can go to that one place for the gourmet popcorn, and then the other place to get the chocolate-covered pretzels, and then the other place to get the craft ice cream, and it will probably cost $50. So you can have your choice." <br><br>She said she had to have the suspiciously expensive nacho cheese at the movie theater, and I said, "Okay, I understand. You're my guest, so I'll buy anything you want." She said she wanted the $45 plastic bucket of fluorescent cheese to go with tortilla chips. <br><br>I said, "No, I don't think so. I'm a budget cook and I can get the same thing for 10% of the price at the supermarket. If you ever want to come over to my house and watch a movie, I'll be happy to buy nacho cheese and I'll buy exactly the same brand if that's what you want." She said that's not what she wants, she wants to go to the movie theater. <br><br>So I said no, and she went ahead and bought the snacks and I brought my own popcorn and I told her I wasn't a good friend. We didn't speak much the rest of the night but she sent me a text this morning apologizing and saying she was over being upset. I said, "I'm a cheap bastard. You're not my friend anymore. Bye."
