In a world where blood is permanent and wounds are irreversible, how would combat change?

I've been developing a fantasy world where healing magic exists, but is very limited. You can heal things like broken bones, and concussions, but anything that is permanent, like missing limbs or organs, will not heal. For example, one of my most notable characters in the world, a prince, was blinded by a powerful demon, lost an eye, and was born with a sealed right eye that won't heal. You can't regrow parts of organs that have been lost, nor can you regenerate blood.

In light of the limitations of healing magic, I was brainstorming ways to combat this. And I think I have a solution, which I'd like your opinion on.

What if sponging blood back up were an integral part of combat?

It could work like this. While your body has a fancy system for blood circulation, your body will always prioritize sending blood to your organs. This means that when you're injured, your organs are prioritized over the wound, and blood will come out and soak into clothes, the ground, and other stuff. From there, you can use magic to sponge that blood back up from the ground, and channel it back into you.

Now, I think this would be incredibly challenging, as you would have to fight your battle while simultaneously absorbing the blood back into you. The more blood that is lost, the harder it would be to absorb, and the longer it would take to channel that blood back into you. You'd be juggling fighting, and absorbing blood into you, which would be hard to balance, especially if you had a major injury like a cut to the gut, or a blow to the head.

I think this could also be used to develop some powerful blood-based magic, like what if you could channel the blood of your opponents back into you to replenish your own blood supply? Or what if you could channel the blood of your own body to create a powerful blood-based shield?

Overall, I think the concept could be incredibly interesting to explore. It would create a grim, gritty combat style where healing is incredibly difficult, but also provides some insane magical opportunities to develop as well. It would also probably change how we perceive injuries as well. We'd probably be a lot more careful about wearing armor and taking risks as a result.

But that's just my thoughts! What do you guys think? Is this a concept worth exploring, or should I go for a different method of healing?
