Hey y'all.

I'm Israeli. I thought it would be a good idea to give you an idea about what is happening in Israel (including details that international media won't tell you).

Our new government has been making A LOT of noise both in Israel and international media (including a bunch of lies). I'll try to bring you the fact and the truth.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said it best:

>“I give a damn about Palestinians and they don’t care about Israelis"

This is 100% true when it comes to the hate that people outside have towards Israel.

I'll try to bring you the fact and the truth.

# 1: This Government isn't like previous governments

> So, the government in Israel is divided to several parties. Each party gets as many seats as they receive votes. In order to become a prime minister a party will have to gather 61 seats (out of 120) by themselves or with other parties. This is why we have a coalition.

In this government, we (Israelis) decided to give right-wing parties the majority of votes. Amongst them are religious parties.

This is the first time EVER, in the history of the state of Israel, that a Government in Israel will have a majority of seats that are right-wing and/or national religious. The newly elected Government will have 12 seats out of 120 (10%) that are left-wing and/or Arab parties.

That means that the majority of the citizens have chosen right-wing parties to represent them.

Fun facts:

* The prime minister (Netanyahu) is NOT a religious Jew. He doesn't follow any Jewish laws.
* His party (Likud) has a lot (A LOT) of non-religious members.
* Shas, one of the Ultra-Orthodox parties (that people love to hate), has ALWAYS been a part of EVERY government in the state of Israel.
* Shas HAS ALWAYS been the party that helps the underprivileged citizens, regardless of race, religion or color.

# 2: We DO have laws

> Media loves to portray Israel as if we're a Dictatorship.

We DO have laws. Laws that protect ALL citizens, including the LGBTQ community and the Arab minorities.

We DO have the freedom of speech. One of the prominent features of Israeli politics is the amount of criticism the government gets.

Fun fact:

* The newly elected Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, is a former chief of staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the former Minister of Culture and Sport and the former Minister of Transportation and road safety.
* She is the most hated person in Israel by the media, haters and left-wing parties.
* She has been (and still is) investigated by the police for several "crimes" (mostly hate speech).
* Not once has she been convicted or charged.

# 3: It's all about the money

> Where were the left-wing parties while we were voting?

Instead of convincing the citizens to vote for them, they were making deals between them to create a left-wing block in order to prevent the right-wing parties from creating a Government.

They failed.

They asked the Arab parties to join (including a party that has an Islamist agenda), but they too failed.

Imagine, just imagine, how the US would look if the Republicans and Democrats would do that.

Fun fact:

* The leader of the opposition, Yair Lapid, is the son of Tommy Lapid, a former member of the parliament and former Minister of Justice.
* Yair Lapid is a former journalist and TV host.
* He is a billionaire that built his entire fortune on the Tax-payers money.

# 4: You're being misled

> Haters love to talk about "Fascism" and "Nazism".

We DO have laws that regulate the usage of the Israeli flag in public spaces.

Fascism

I don't think any of you (including those who protect Palestinian propaganda) would like to see Palestinian flags waving in main cities around the world (especially in Israel).

Nazism

We DO have laws that regulate what can be said in the public sphere.

I don't think any of you would like to hear phrases like "death to Israel" or "death to Palestine" or "death to the US" or any variation of that phrase in main cities around the world (especially in Israel).

It's not Nazism. It's a democracy under a massive threat.

Fun fact:

* People that have been shouting those phrases, including those in the parliament, like the member of parliament from the Arab party "Hadash Ta'al", are still free and have not been charged or convicted.

So.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. I hope I helped you learn more about Israel.

**TL;DR:** We aren't Nazis. We aren't Fascists. We just want to protect our country.
