How much do you actually save money?

When I buy something I use the rule of 10s. For example if I buy a coffee for $6 I can have 10x of that (coffees) before I bought a months worth of Starbuck (60$). So it is three weeks of starbucks for 10 coffees that I have consumed.

But I am wondering how much money do you actually save by doing the frugal method? As an example I could cook ramen, but by the time I sell my car and move I could have just bought RAMEN for a year. Which makes the overall savings 0 if you need to buy the car and stuff to sell it. What are your thoughts?
