People who go "brutally deaf" in their 40s-50s are just bullshitting their way out of having to talk to people.

I cant count how many times Ive heard people say things like "I used to be able to hear just fine, and then all of a sudden I couldnt hear anything past 3 feet in front of me", or "I was always able to pick out individual instruments and voices in a song, but then all of a sudden it all sounds like a jumbled up mess of random sounds". It always sounds like a bunch of nonsense designed to avoid having to talk to people they dont like when the only thing they need to hear is "Last name?"
