What was the plan of the Allies if the Germans had started the usage of their jet engines in 1942 instead of 1944?

The question is more or less in the title. I've often read the statement "If the Germans had used the jet engines they developed already 2 years earlier than they did the outcome of the war could have changed significantly and the D day may have been impossible". Is that true?
