Can you guys help me understand how to get started with finding primary sources?

I’ve always kind of known that primary sources are important but whenever I go to read anything I end up reading a lot of basically Twitter or Chambers or blog posts that are written by people who claim to be experts but in the end I don’t know if they really know what they’re talking about.
I’ve always been interested in the past but it seems like nothing is really trustworthy and that bothers me. I’ve kind of just given up and figured I can never really know anything. But then I saw my friend post about how much she loves reading primary sources about history and culture. I want to do that too.
What I don’t understand is where to look and what’s trustworthy. Are there any general places I should know about that are trustworthy to look at? It seems like a lot of the sources I see are held behind paywalls and require degrees and educational experience to access.
I’m not sure how to find things I’m interested in or where to start looking for historical events or anything.
