I've been eye-balling my mom's job, and I think it's perfect for me. How do I approach her?

I'm currently a software engineer and have been for 2 years now. I've been feeling really burnt out from an extreme case of impostor syndrome (I think). I've always wanted to leave tech anyway, and I'm more comfortable doing it now that I have more money saved up.

The issue is, my mom has a really nice job and I think it would be perfect for me. She's a librarian at a big university and she loves it. I know she's retiring soon (2-3 years or so), and I think it would be a great opportunity for me to take over her position. I'd be able to escape tech, get a more comfortable job with a better work/life balance, and preserve her legacy in a way.

I've been doing an online MLIS (I've completed a few classes so far and I'm planning to finish) but I want to approach her about it before I'm halfway through the program. How should I go about this? I don't want her to feel like I'm stealing her job or anything, and I know she'll be thrilled to know that I'm interested in the library sciences but I still feel really nervous.

Any advice would be great.
