I see a lot of people promoting things like e-readers, audiobooks, remote work, digital drawing, etc. as products and things that “minimise clutter and waste.”

Technology isn’t minimalist.

Buying an e-reader because you hate having extra physical stuff is not minimalistic, it’s consumerist.

Digital minimalism is also a joke in that most subscriptions have actually caused people to consume more because it feels easier and guilt-free because it “doesn’t take up physical space.”

Subscribing to streaming services or buying nft's or whatever is still consumerism in that it subscriptions have actually caused people to over consume more than buying single products (because of the ease of use and lack of physical consequence, people are more likely to just click "play next" ad infinitum), and digital art is still art, just like physical is still art.

Technology is not a solution, it’s just an excuse to keep consuming.
