How do you survive when the quality of anime has never been lower?

It seems like it's been 5 years since I watched a full season of anime. I used to love anime. It's depressing how poor the quality of anime has become. I don't understand why it's become this way. It's not like they've run out of good source material. It's not like they don't have the money to hire the best artists. There's just no effort put into anime anymore.
