This is something i noticed in my own college, and i'm wondering if this a common trend...

I have about 10 friend that I've known since the first year of college. We've been friends since the first day, grew up constantly as a group, and have good relationships with each other. At least once a week we all get together and drink, go outside, walk around our campus, and just enjoy life as college students. We talk about random topics such as our future career plans, life crisis, our own businesses, political beliefs, and all the stuff that college students usually do.

As of all of us are around 22-23 years old now, we have to discuss our career plans, and this is where it hits the hard truth.

Most of us, if not all, constantly found out that we all, as our parents, are pursuing the same route as they once did. I'm not sure if this is a common trend that is also happening in other college students, but im hoping i can see if others have the same realization as i do, and if that is indeed the case all over the world...

For example, one of my friends is the son of a CEO of a large bank company, and he is pursuing an MBA as i type this as an entrepreneur major. He knows the secrets to starting a successful business with the help of his dad, and he has friends and networking, and he is well on his way to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Another one of my friends is the son of a large lawyer firm here in my state, and he is currently pursuing the same route. His family owns a very successful law firm, they are wealthy, and all of their friends know that, and he will most likely become a lawyer once he gets out of college.

And the hard truth, is my own route. My parents are both successful medical doctors, and they have been pressuring me to pursue the same route as well. I am currently a junior in college, and i am in the process of taking medical classes in order to apply for medical school. I don't like medicine, i don't like all the science stuff, but i really feel i have no choice but to pursue the same route as my parents.

Another one of my friends is the son of a large real estate company, and all of their friends know that, and he is well on his way to become a successful businessman in the real estate industry.

I have a friend who is the son of a dentist, and he is currently on the path to also become a dentist.

All of my friends are like me, we feel we have no choice, we feel this is our destiny, we have no choice... and nobody really knows this except for us.

This is just something that i noticed, and i thought it would be interesting to also ask around here to see if this is a common trend that college students face today.
