I emailed parents about a students injury

When a student is hurt in class, do any of you email or call parents to let them know what happened? I have a kid who smacked her mouth really hard on a desk and her teeth got chipped because she was getting up from her seat too quickly. We were out on the playground, so I wanted to let mom know her kid was bleeding from the mouth because I figured she might be concerned it was an accident. No big deal, right?

Anyway, mom got back to me saying that she does not want to know about every boo boo that her daughter gets, that accidents happen and that she needed to let her know only if they are really hurt. I felt like chipped teeth constituted a "big" boo boo but mom said I was being overdramatic.

When I was a kid I remember getting a boo boo or getting sick and my mom had to be called. She would even talk to me on the phone to see if I needed to go home or if I could finish the day.

Anyway, I have always wanted to be more hands off in terms of parent-teacher communication and hearing this made me not want to email parents ever again onwards.
