My school administration is making teachers pay for the things they stole

A staff member and I have stuff like a Keurig, coffee, peanut butter and knives/jelly gone missing. We only figured it out because someone in the office sneaked into our lounge and took a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of the fridge. It was all left behind when the office worker went home.<br><br>We made a police report. Our administration has identified the thief or thieves, but have not bothered to contact the police. They are requiring the person to pay us back for what was stolen/missing, but no other disciplinary action is being taken.<br><br>The school seems to not care. I just want my coffee maker back. <br><br><br>Edit: this was a student, and the teacher has identified them.
