What do you do to stay focused and avoid distractions in exams? How do you stop yourself from looking around the room?

This year, I will be sitting my first A levels and I am trying to be more productive and focus on my exams. I have a tendency of looking around the room and it takes my mind of the actual exam and so I spend less time in the exam doing actual questions and this leads to a low mark. I have the same problem with my mocks (practice exams). I spent around 1hr and 30mins of the exam looking at the people in the room and I didn't use all the time provided for the exam so I got a low mark. I feel like this is going to affect my actual exams and I don't want that to happen.

I want to know how you stay focused and avoid distractions. I want to try to avoid asking myself too many questions that are rhetorical.
