We've talked about money in the middle class. How do people live in the 1%?

I'm doing well. I've got a 7 figure net worth, make over half a million a year. But I'm not "rich" rich. When I see the lifestyles of the 1%, I wonder how they're able to live the way they do, and what are the biggest expenses.

When you make 300-500k a year, money is still a concern. Where do you cut corners, where do you spend? Your first 150k is going to taxes, your next 150k is going to your investable income. Is there anything left over to live a nice life?

I know the 1% is a wide swath of people, so I'll use myself as an example. I'm 38, single, with 2 kids under the age of 2. I make about $1 million a year after taxes, although this is rapidly increasing and I anticipate making $2-3 million within the next 3 years.

Lifestyle: I have two homes. One in Scottsdale, one in Malibu. I have a condo in Chicago as well. My primary is Scottsdale, where I spend probably about 4 months a year. The Malibu house is secondary, spent about 3 months a year there. The Chicago condo is really just something I got for the hell of it, but I spend maybe a month a year there.

Vehicles: I have a few cars, but only 2 horses in my stable. I have a G-Wagen I use for hauling the kids and family around, and a Huracan for the Sunday cruises.

Employees: I have a live in nanny for my children, a housekeeper that works for me and my parents, a personal trainer, and a financial advisor (I'm a business owner)

Vices: I spend a lot of money on weed, I have a massive steak and cheese fridge, and I love going out to really good restaurants. I also love buying stupid shit, so I probably spend $10-15k a month on dumb stuff I don't need.

Vacations: I travel a lot for work, and usually combine this with vacation time. I spend a month a year in Ibiza with my parents, and usually take a few other trips here and there. I'm not much of a traveler though, I rarely leave the US.

Other expenses: I spend a lot on air purifiers and water filtration systems. I'm a bit of a health anxiety freak in that regard. I also spend a lot on supplements and good food. I'm probably in the top 1% of health nuts. So I probably spend $15-20k a month on my health.

I also spend a lot on my kids, although that has been dwindling. They're 1 and 2, and I probably spend $10-15k a month on them. They have a 3 bedroom suite in my Scottsdale house, a play room in Malibu, and a play room in the Chicago condo. They have a dedicated nanny, and I have a separate room in each house for all their kids stuff. I also have a dedicated parking spot in each house for all their cars.

I'm leaving out a lot, but this is a general idea of what life is like when you make over a million dollars a year. So now onto the questions:

What's the biggest change in going from HNI to UHNWI? (50 million, 100 million, 500 million+ liquid net worth)

What are some things that the 1% wishes they could do but can't because of the IRS?

What are some of the biggest expenses for the 0.1% that we wouldn't really think of?

What kind of things do the 1% do that the middle and lower classes don't know about?

What are some of the best places in the world to live if you're rich?

What are some silly purchases rich people make?

What are some things the 1% doesn't like about being rich?

What are some things the 1% wishes they could do but can't?

What are some of the best vacations, and what do they cost?

What are the strangest things the 1% spend their money on?
