New to the thread, I felt the need to write something. I am not going to teach you how to do basic research, I am not going to explain why the flag waved, and I am not going to explain that the lack of stars means nothing. If you want to know why these are irrelevant, take a look at the Science and Skepticism Subreddit, they can help answer any questions regarding these issues.

What I am going to say is that the lack of stars is an argument for the moon landing. When you photograph a sunlit object, in this case the moon, you have to set your camera settings for the sun or you have to set them for the dark (stars). This is not an issue now, since modern cameras can adjust to sunlit objects and dark backdrops with ease. However, back in the day if you set your camera settings for the sun, the dark areas would be impossible to see because the aperture is closed to compensate for the brightness of the sun. Inversely, if you set the aperture to allow in more light for the dark, your pictures of sunlit objects would be impossible to see because they would be over exposed with the extra light.

So when NASA photographed the moon, they had to set their cameras for the sun because the darkness of the universe would be impossible to perceive through film otherwise. So the reason there is no stars in the pictures is because they were set to photograph the sunlit moon, not the dark universe. This also applies to footage of the earth from the moon; you can’t see stars from the pictures of earth because the camera settings were still for the sun. So if you teach yourself how to conduct basic photo shoots, you will see that this argument is unfounded because the aperture settings were set to photograph the sun, not the stars.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Edit: Some people have told me that this doesn’t completely answer the issue. It may not completely answer all of the questions but it can help answer some. It is impossible for an amateur like me to answer why the stars never came out in all of the pictures. That is something I do not know and can’t discuss. But your best bet is to seek out the photos that show stars. I think NASA has said that there are pictures that show stars but they are at a very high f stop and greatly underexposed and it is hard to see them, but they are there nonetheless.
