I’m going to get fired if I don’t do something about my anxiety

For the first time in my life, I’m a bit of a mess. Recently, I started working in tech as a software engineer after previously working as a teacher. I’m okay at my job, but I’m very anxious. Working bands in tech is quite different from a classroom, and I’m still adjusting.

I’ve been working for a year and a half with two different companies. The first one didn’t give me enough work to do, which caused a bunch of anxiety on my side. They fired me. The second one is quite the opposite, I’m swamped by work. The company wants us to do coding challenges on top of actual work, and we’ll be fired if we’re not doing enough challenges. I’m really anxious because I’m so overwhelmed with work.

I don’t feel like I’m doing a great job at this company. I’m fired if I don’t do enough challenges, but doing all these challenges cause me to not have enough time to work. It’s a lose/lose, and I’m very stressed about it. I don’t think it’s a good idea to tell them, as they might think I’m incompetent and they’ll be right.

I was thinking of quitting and going back to teaching since I’ll have the summer off to do challenges. I love tech, and I don’t want to give up, but I think I need to be on my own for a while and not be overwhelmed.
