My thoughts on the Walther PDP after carrying it for a year

I carried the walther PDP .40 for a little over a year as my concealed carry. I was impressed with its performance, it digested every conceivable ammo I was able to feed it from the grainiest of bulk range ammo, to defensive hollow points, including some of my own hand loaded rounds which have historically been difficult to get digested.

Unfortunately after owning the gun for a little over a year and carrying it daily, the slide started to crack in multiple spots, which a few other users have reported. I’d imagine carrying and shooting this thing for 10-15 years like people do with glocks, it would just completely disintegrate.

I decided to replace it with the canik TP9SFX which so far is just as reliable and more accurate and durable than the PDP. It’s also a much better shooter even though the trigger isn’t as clean as the Walther.

I’m not sure why the PDP cracked so easily, my TP9SFX and Glock 34 have been shot way more, put through all sorts of testing and abuse, but function flawlessly. I’m not sure if I just got unlucky with the PDP but I’m definitely not going to be purchasing it again.
