When I was 11 someone tried to kidnap me in public

I was 11 when this happened. <br><br>I would get up early to deliver newspapers. I looked a lot younger than I was. A man approached me when I was back at my house loading up my bag. He would have been in his 30s. He said, “Hey little girl, do you want to see inside my van?” I said no. He was stunned. Said “But whyyyy?” I said “No”. He said “But whyyy?! You’re such a pretty little girl!! Do you want to see inside my van?” I said “NO” and turned to go inside. He kept asking me. Needless to say this got weird. I slammed the door and called my parents, telling them what happened. My mom said “WHAT?! Go to your room and I’ll check it out”. So I go upstairs and look out the window, and there he is, he came down the street in his van and parked it. This guy was waiting for me. My mom came back upstairs and told me she saw him, and called the police. They came and picked him up. I’m not really sure what happened after that, other than I had to testify against him. It was a really horrible experience. <br><br>I would also like to add that I am not a white woman, so it wasn’t like he was racist and didn’t like me because of my skin. This guy simply saw a young girl and immediately decided he wanted to sexually assault me. In fact, he said he was looking for a little girl to sexually assault and that’s why he was there. I was just lucky that I wasn’t alone, and that I wasn’t scared of saying no. It could have ended a lot differently.
