Why do men always have to play the tough guy?

I just got food poisoning and I've been vomiting, shitting and generally feeling like shit all day.<br><br>My (male) partner, when i was crying about how sick I was and being miserable said "that's what you get for eating that!" and said I should suck it up.<br><br>I asked him why he was being so cruel, being sick is the worst and I'm already miserable, and he said it's because he's a man and he has to "be tough" so I don't break down and start to rely on him.<br><br>I was so shocked, I don't even know what to say to that... Why the hell do men always have to play tough? Especially when it comes to supporting your loved ones.
