I told this story in my previous post but it was a throwaway, so I decided to repost it. Also, English is not my first language so I apologize for the mistakes. If you see any, please tell me. Thanks.

****

I was out with my two cousins, one of which is physically disabled. We were at this beach that was right next to a camping place. So, there were some people who weren’t necessarily at the beach, but there for camping with their friends and families. Anyway, we rented a cabin (we didn’t bring a tent with us) and stayed there for the night. The plan was to spend a day at the beach, then go to this village that was right next to the camping/beach place. We weren’t going to stay there long, just visit this historical site that was in the village.

So, we were at the beach and it was a really hot day, so we decided to swim a bit. Before getting into the water, my disabled cousin went into the sea and dipped his feet in it. I didn’t get into the water at first because I was scared that my cousin would fall into the water or slip and get hurt. My other cousin was in the water, though. So, this lady approaches me from nowhere (to this day, I don’t know where she came from, there was no one around us) while I was looking after my disabled cousin. She had a daughter with her as well. She looked like she was maybe ten years old, maybe eleven at most. The lady looked to be in her mid-twenties. So, she was asking me if the water was cold or not. I told her that I hadn’t gotten into the water yet, but my cousin had and she said it was fine. The lady thanked me, then looked at my disabled cousin for a bit, then looked back at me and said, “You know, I could take him into the water if you want. Or, we could go into the water together.” I was like, “Uh, that’s okay. I’ll take him in if he wants to get into the water.” Then, she told me that it was fine, she could carry him into the water on her own. She could see that he was disabled, right? Then, she asked again, “Are you sure you won’t let me take him in? I could take him into the water if you want.” I said no again, and when I did, she looked at my cousin with this look of disappointment on her face, like she was sad that I wouldn’t let her take him into the water with her (I don’t know what’s worse, to think that she wanted to hurt him or to think that she was doing it out of pity and wanted to “help” him).

Then, I asked her how old her daughter was. She looked at me weirdly again (I don’t know if she was mad at me or something, but she had this weird smile on her face). She told me that her daughter was ten years old. So, I asked her what her name was and she told me that her name was Abby (I don’t know if she was lying or not). When I asked her daughter to confirm, she didn’t say anything. She just looked at the ground and I swear, she looked like she was scared of her own mother. I have no idea why or what was going on, but it just seemed like she was scared of her own mother, the way she looked at her when she talked to her made it seem like she was scared of her. I don’t know, maybe I was imagining things, but I remember being confused for a second.

Then, she told me to go into the water with her and her daughter, and I was like, “Uh, I don’t know.” Then she was like, “Please go into the water with me. I won’t hurt you. You’re safe.” And I thought to myself, what the hell is wrong with you, lady? Why are you telling me that you won’t hurt me? What makes you think that I think you’ll hurt me? She had this creepy tone when she talked to me, like she was trying to hypnotize me or something, and she kept telling me to go into the water and that I was safe. So, I told her again that I couldn’t leave my cousins alone. She asked where the other one was and I told her she was in the water, swimming. Then she said, “So you’re alone here, right? Your cousin is in the water, the other one has a disability. If I were to take him into the water with me, you could come with us too, okay? We won’t hurt you. You’re safe.” Honestly, I don’t know what I would’ve done if she weren’t there with her daughter. Maybe I would’ve called the police or something, but for some reason, I didn’t think that she was a threat to me or my cousins. I was just confused because she had this creepy and weird tone, but I didn’t really think that she was a threat to us. Maybe it’s because she had a daughter with her, I don’t know. But the daughter looked scared, though.

Then, I was like, “No, I’m not going into the water. I need to look after my cousins.” Then she started getting mad at me and her tone changed. “Why are you being so stubborn? Fine. If you’re not going to come, then at least let me take your disabled cousin with me. I could take him into the water if you want.” I swear, this lady wouldn’t give up. I told her “no” again, and when I did, she got mad at me. Then, she started talking to herself and walked away from me and my cousin. Her daughter was looking at me, then back at her mother, then back at me, like she was sorry that her mother was acting like that. I don’t know, maybe she was just looking at me weirdly because she thought I was looking at her weirdly, who knows. Anyway, they walked away and my cousin asked me what that lady said to me and I told him everything. He was pretty confused as well, but he told me that maybe she just wanted to help him into the water because she saw that he had a disability. I told him that maybe she did, but she could tell that I was looking after him, you know? But he said maybe she just wanted to help and that maybe she had a disabled sibling or something. That maybe she felt bad for my cousin because of that and wanted to “help him.” Anyway, I was still confused and weirded out by the whole thing.

After that day, I couldn’t stop thinking about the whole thing. It just seemed really strange that she kept insisting on taking him into the water and was acting so strangely. I don’t know, I just had this weird feeling about it, you know? Like, she seemed too eager to “help” him and stuff. So, I was confused for a bit and I couldn’t get it out of my head.

Then, the next day when we went to the village (which was right next to the camping place/beach), we saw the lady and her daughter again. She was walking alone, though, her daughter wasn’t with her. My cousins and I were walking to the historical site, which was on this hill (to get to the historical site, you had to walk up this hill), and we were on the hill, walking. She was walking down the hill and when she saw us, she stopped. We were pretty far away from her at that point, but I could see that she stopped. She looked at me and my cousins, then she looked back and started walking down the hill again. I don’t know, but it just seemed strange that as soon as she saw us, she stopped. Like she didn’t expect to see us or something.

Anyway, after that day, I couldn’t stop thinking about the whole thing again, especially after I saw her in the village. I don’t know, it just weirded me out for some reason. Maybe it was just because she was acting strangely, but a part of me thought that maybe she had other intentions. I don’t know, maybe she was just trying to help or something, but maybe she had other intentions as well. Like, maybe she wasn’t just trying to help, but also wanted to do something else to my cousin. But I think that’s just my anxiety talking. I don’t know, though. It all just seemed really weird at the time.

****

Anyway, that’s my story. If you’ve read this far, thanks for reading. Also, please tell me if you think this lady was just trying to help or something or if you think she had other intentions.

Edit: I didn’t think I had to mention this, but my disabled cousin is physically disabled, not mentally disabled. Also, English is not my first language and this is the first time I’ve posted something in English, aside from this throwaway post.
