I (m35), my wife (f33) and my daughter (f7) go to the same church. She has a crush on a boy (m7) there who gave her one of the rose petal flowers he received last Sunday. She gave him a flower too and they held hands in the pew - it was so cute. She goes to school with the kid, Mitchell, and so when valentines came around, she reminded me that she wants to give one to him.

She has a pre-made box with a place for her to write her name and a place for her to write the recipients name and an envelope to stick the treat in. She had to make 57 of them. She had asked if she couldn't give one to everyone and we said no, she had to give one to everyone.

So it's valentines morning, we are making breakfast and she brings me a dozen of the valentines, with her name already written on them and the treat in the envelope. She tells me she doesn't want to give them to these people because she doesn't like them and they can be mean to her.

We talk and she agrees to give them out to everyone. So we get to school and she doesn't have enough valentines. She only has 50. She insists on only giving them to her friends. So we tell her we are going home. Mitchell has been over a few times, we are chatty with his mom when we see her and we really like the kid. She asks if we are going to give one to Mitchell and I tell her no because he isn't her friend anymore, he's mean. And we come home.

She spent the day playing with her tablet and stimming. She doesn't like to be home without structure but she isn't at a level where she can initiate an activity for 8 hours.

My wife called Mitchell's mom and told her what happened. Mitchell's mom is very angry with me for punishing my daughter and calling Mitchell mean. I don't think I was in the wrong here though. I took my child to school, she wouldn't do what she was told to do, and I took her home.
