I walked in and he was cheating

My school has moved to a "remote" proctoring service. I have students take this exam over two days in class. A of the students is on day two.

There is a camera over his shoulder, one on his face, and his screen being recorded. There is a person watching the screen on the other end.

Today, I walked in and he had earbuds in. I asked if he had music playing, he said yes. I said, "but you cannot have any assistance." He said "oh" and laid them on the desk. I continued my rounds and when I was about 5 desks away from him, I heard a voice say "Remove your AirPods." He laid them on the desk. I left the room to talk with the proctor. I asked them to pause the test and have him remove the AirPods from his ear. He had put them back in his ear. His dad later called me to yell at me for embarrassing his son.

The other proctors are all talking about this test and students cheating. It really pisses me off that these students don't care they are cheating. They think they are "winning" but it is at a price.

Edit: Apparently, this was the second time he had them in his ears. And, I got a call from the principal and vice principal telling me that the dad called and yelled at them. And, I got to listen to them laugh.
