I (32f) was delayed in getting my ass to a meeting this morning, and was subsequently fired.

I've been with the company for 7 years - started as an assistant, working my way up to a full-time position in a new department. I have been very successful in my position, have run a successful team, and have won numerous company awards. <br><br>At the end of last year, we had cuts, and I had to pick up 3 roles (my main role, plus 2 other roles that were cut with no one to cover the work). I've had an extremely hard time keeping up with the workload, and have started coming in extremely early (usually around 7am) to get a head start on the day.<br><br>This morning, I overslept and it was 9:25 before I got in my car and was on my way. I knew I was going to miss a 10am meeting that I had scheduled with a new supervisor in the company, so I emailed him apologizing for the delay and gave him an ETA. The meeting was rescheduled for 10:30am.<br><br>I received an email from my boss discussing how unprofessional it was of me to not show up to a meeting, and how it showed a lack of respect for those I work with. After the meeting this morning, I was called into my bosses office and I was let go. I asked what specifically was the reason for my termination, and I was told it was for "being late to work this morning and missing a scheduled meeting."<br><br>I am floored. I'm still in shock. I never in my life would have thought that I could be fired for being late one day. I'm in the process of collecting my things and getting out of the office, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm so confused and upset.<br><br>**tl;dr - Overslept. Missed meeting. Got fired.**
