# New Cabin Requirements to Fight COVID-19

Today, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) outlined an urgent call to action to all stakeholders in the fight against COVID-19. Prevention of the spread of the virus is the top priority and everybody has a role to play. IATA urged governments around the world to implement temporary measures to reduce the risk of virus transmission during air travel and to financially support airlines to ensure the viability of the airline industry so that it can play its key role in the recovery when the crisis is over.

IATA encouraged airports and airlines to adopt the following temporary measures:

* Cabin crews are trained to handle emergencies and provide first aid. But they are not trained to look for coronavirus symptoms. Airlines are relying on airline passengers to be honest about their health. IATA encourages airlines to have clear and transparent communication to both passengers and airline crew. Passengers should contact local health authorities if they have any doubt about their health. This is not a job for cabin crews.
