We recently returned from our 18-day honeymoon in Italy in October of 2023. After all the stress of planning the wedding and just wanting an epic honeymoon, it was everything we hoped for and more. Here's a short summary of our trip.

We booked with a travel agent, so it was probably the most "stress-free" trip I've been on in a while. She made all of the reservations, booked the train tickets, and basically had a huge list of activities to do at each location.

We started off in Rome and spent 3 days exploring the city. We visited the Colosseum and the Vatican, saw countless other churches and fountains, and ate at some of the best restaurants in the city. One place in particular, Trattoria Meloncello, was so good that we spent half the meal wondering if it was owned by Gordon Ramsay because of how good the pasta was.

From Rome, we headed to Florence, where we spent 3 days. During this part of the trip, we saw countless paintings and sculptures from Michelangelo. Probably my favorite part of our trip was when we went to an olive farm and got to spend some time in the Tuscan countryside, where we saw the most beautiful vineyards and olive groves. It was probably the most relaxed part of our trip and something I'd be interested in going back to.

Next, we went to Venice, where we spent 3 days exploring the city and taking in the sights and sounds. We took a gondola ride, saw St. Mark's Basilica, and even watched a glass-blowing demonstration. We did a cooking class and learned how to make a traditional Venetian dish. It was a lot of fun and something we never would have thought to do.

After Venice, we went to Lake Como, where we spent 4 days relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery. We did a wine-tasting tour at a local winery and learned about the different types of wine that are produced in the area. We also took a boat ride on the lake and visited some of the charming towns along the shore.

Finally, we ended our trip in Milan, where we spent 3 days exploring the city and visiting some of the famous landmarks like the Duomo and the Galleria. We did a guided tour of the city and learned about its history and culture. We also visited a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.

Overall, our honeymoon was a truly unforgettable experience. We saw some of the most beautiful places in the world, ate delicious food, and had some amazing experiences. We would definitely do it all over again in a heartbeat.

This is my first post, so if you would like pictures of a certain location, please let me know! I have photos and would be happy to send them.

TL;DR; 18 days in Italy and it was fantastic. Many recommendations and also probably some glaring omissions. We got married, and it was the best time ever.
