How do I learn a language in secret and still interact with my family and friends?

I want to learn a language in secret, but my family knows I learn languages. They have been to my home and are not comfortable speaking the languages they know to me. I travel with my family and I have traveled on my own a lot, but they can’t understand the languages I have learned. When I travel with my family, I use English and don’t use the native language. That’s fine with my family.<br><br>But they can’t understand a single word of the language I want to learn. I want to learn it in secret so that I can surprise them.<br><br>So, I want to learn it in secret. What do I do and how do I interact with my family and friends? I know that I’m not an in person translator, but in emergency situations, or in situations where there is no one to translate for me or my family and friends, I know that I often have to step up.<br><br>I want to learn the language in secret so that I can use it in an emergency.
