Does anybody else feel like breeding is a dying hobby?

It seems like most people are turning to rescue, and parents let their kids get whatever dog they want based on surface level appearances. I don’t know how sustainable this is and what it means for our future. I love animals, I don’t think they belong in shelters enough that rescue should be the preferred method of getting a pet, and I want to help fix the problem. I only hope I have a future in this hobby.
