I just bought the most illegal gun I've ever owned, and I have never been more proud

I can't wait to make some evil black powder, load the barrel, ram the ball home and fire that bad boy.

How many crimes did I just commit? Oh man, you guys, it is terrible how much of a criminal I am. Pre Ban? NFA? Assault musket?

I wonder how many felonies I committed with that purchase...

Edit: Ok lets try this again. I made an exploding ball with cement and a match. This is the third time it has exploded, and the second time it has blasted the ramrod from the musket. I have used this rod to load this musket at least 50 times with no boresight, and I was able to send it flying again.

I have ruined the rod, but I made another one that is slightly thicker. I may have ruined the musket, but there is no visible damage or weakness. If I have to get a new rammer, I will be sad but I was planning on that if this endeavor was successful.

When a bore explodes, it does not crack the side of the barrel open, it shreds the inside. This may be my last update folks, if I am unable to recover from this failure, but I have had some success. Thank you for your patience.

Edit: Ok so I had a few hours today and tried to make a new explosive ball. I was able to get the match inside the cement, so hear me out. I used the cement to create a hole in a metal sphere. I made a smaller metal ball, and I crammed the match between them. Then I covered the whole thing in cement and shaped it into a ball.

This is the problem. I need to light the match, then I need to push the ball down the musket. I have a metal sphere. I have a metal rod. I have cement. I need to make something that can be lit, and then withstand being shot out of a cannon.

I have a feeling that if I am able to successfully create this explosive ball, it may be the first of its kind.

I was thinking that maybe I could somehow shove a lighter into the cement, or a cake of matches into the cement, but I am not sure how that will work. This is as far as I have made it. I have to put it off until later, and I have made very little progress.

I have been extremely busy with work and stuff, but I haven't given up on this project. I need to create a metal ball that can withstand a lighter or a match or a flame being lit on one end, and then act as a fuse until it reaches the explosive.

So far, no luck.

Edit: Silence is golden, and so are matches.

I was able to create a gold match. I put a bunch of matches in a blender, and crushed them up. Then I put a tiny bit of water in them and mixed them in my hands until I had a paste. I hear that gold is expensive, so I put the paste in a metal sphere made of gold, and I made an identical sphere that fits in perfectly. I will update you on any further progress.

Edit: I currently have a lighter inside the cement. I put the paste on the cement so I could push the lighter into the paste and create a mold for the lighter. Then I put it in the oven and it hardened into a brittle, crumbly cube. I put a lighter in the cement, and then I made a mold and put it in the oven.

I am currently mixing the paste up and putting it into the mold. I am going to put it in the oven and see what happens. I know I need the cement out of the oven before it ignites, but I also need to harden the paste enough to withstand the heat of being shot out of a cannon.

I have considered briefly putting a firecracker or a smoke bomb in the barrel and firing it to see if the paste is hardened enough to withstand a small explosion.

That's where I'm at. I'll update again later.

Edit: It worked. I am so proud. I made a ball by putting a bunch of matches in a blender, mixing them up and putting water in it. I put a lighter in the cement, and framed it with the paste, and then I put it in the oven.

Then I loaded a firecracker into the musket and aimed it at a patch of dry grass. The idea being that if I was able to ignite the lighter with the firecracker, the dry grass would catch fire and the flame would spread.

I lit the firecracker and fired the musket. This was the moment of truth. I was able to almost, kind of, ignite the lighter. The paste was not flammable enough, but I was able to scorch it.

I have considered briefly putting a firecracker or a smoke bomb in the barrel and firing it to see if the paste is hardened enough to withstand a small explosion.

I had just had the idea, but when I ran it by my wife, she was not excited. I explained that if the paste was not flammable or combustible, that if it was able to withstand a match or a lighter inside the cement, that it may be possible to make a solid fuel match that withstand being fired from a musket.

She told me that I was a genius. Then I was able to scorch the paste by firing a firecracker from a cannon. Then I realized that a firecracker is much hotter than a match or a lighter.

I made a solid fuel match that can withstand being fired from a musket.

No, I did not use the ramrod when I fired the firecracker. Yes, I was careful not to burn myself or light anything else on fire. Yes I know I'm a genius.

I am not going to stop until I have successfully shot a match or lighter from a musket and it is still functional.
