I'm so tired of how catgirls are treated as the only 'fake' anime waifu

This has been my pet peeve for a while. What's 'worse' about a catgirl than a literal highschool age idol? A cyborg? A swimsuit clad high school girl in love with a dead middle aged guy? A fox girl? A robot girl? A loli vampire? A melonpanned 'not' highschool student? And the list goes on.

My problem with catgirls is how 'everypage' they are. Look at one anime chamber and the first couple of pictures are catgirls. They've sort of become a poster child for anime and Japanese culture as a whole. It's annoying. However that's a different annoyance than how some people react to the very idea of them. I've read plenty of times about how 'fake' they are and how 'realistic' a high school girl is. Yes, catgirls as a 'thing' aren't realistic, but why does that make them inherently worse than any other waifu?

If anything I think the 'realistic' waifus are far more damaging. Catgirls won't trick people that they're real. They're indicative of the fictional nature of the media they're in. The highschool idol will be worshipped and held up as an ideal by some people. The catgirl is not.

My problem is all these are waifus and are fake. Why are people more prone to being angry with the non 'realistic' ones?
