CMV: There is nothing wrong with or demeaning about submissive men.

I think 50 years of feminism has had a really positive impact on society. And I full heartedly support full equality and say that women are not inferior to men in any way, and both men and women deserve equal respect and dignity. That means that if submissive men are seen as inferior or demeaned in any way, that means that women are too.<br><br>But I really don't see any issues with men being submissive in a relationship, or even being submissive in public. My reasoning is that there is nothing wrong with someone choosing to be submissive, and it doesn't mean that submissive individuals are inferior to dominant ones.<br><br>adalur had a really good point. He said that "Submissive men get a little less respect and consideration from society, but that's not a lot different from other stigmatised kinks like being into watersports or 24/7 D/s." This is true. But I think society is becoming more accepting of kinks and I feel that submissive men are less stigmatised than other kinks. I think women are not submissive because of societies expectations of them and their unwillingness to escape those expectations. But I don't really think that society is preventing men from being submissive.<br><br>I've done some research into the topic and I can't find anything really that contradicts my view other than society's expectations of gender roles. Men being submissive may not be seen as "masculine", but societies view of masculinity and femininity is quickly becoming less important. And men are allowed to be feminine now (at least in more progressive places).<br><br>So by logic, submissive men are not seen as inferior, they are looked down by some people not because they are inferior, but because of society's view of gender roles. And that has to change.<br><br>Edit: I know that most of the comments are from men who have experienced other people or women being not okay with their submissiveness. Please know this is a change my view thread and that I'm grateful for all your comments.
