A mother telling her kid that "I would never abandon you, even if I didn't want you, I'd rather kill myself than leave you" is so toxic.

Often times this is told by mothers who were either forced into having the kid by the father or by family. Its just a blatant lie, and it won't reassure the kid.<br><br>Just because you can't leave the kid doesn't mean some don't want to. A lot of people get roped into parents against their will. <br><br>This can do damage to a child's self esteem.<br><br>edit: I am not encouraging any parent to abandon their children, and I am glad and thankful that I have parents who love me. I am speaking from the view point of people who feel trapped and forced to be a parent against their will.
