I've been out of the loop for a while now, but I don't see as much hype surrounding anime as there were a few years ago. Before, you'll see lots of people cling to future season announcements, and lots of them were hyped about paying for online subscriptions.

This year, even though it has a lot of good shows, there isn't as much hype for new shows outside of reddit.

I don't see many of my non-anime enthusiast friends talking about the new shows. I don't see people talk about crunchyroll subscriptions either. This hasn't happened since 2013-2017, where even though it was still a niche hobby, people were enthusiastic about it. Now it's more that people even I know who watch anime just shrug it off whenever I ask about what they think about new shows.

It's rare to find people offline who actively watch anime. Before, you'll have huge arguments with friends over whether One Punch Man was better than My Hero Academia. But now you don't see them as much.
