How would you use the Comanche Empire as a Santa Fe Trail analogue in a fantasy world?

So I’ve been pretty fascinated with the Comanche Empire since we’ve been moving into our house and I’ve had lots of time to listen to podcasts. This is my Santa Fe trail analogues attempt to create somewhat similar, although as a lot of worldbuilding is it isn’t exactly similar and the nation in my world is Comanche-inspired rather than like, the Comanche. However one of the issues I’m having as someone who doesn’t know anything about the Santa Fe trail is I don’t know anything about the Santa Fe trail. In my world, the Comanche-inspired nation is a horse archer nation that is riding and archery-focused in the center of a large grassland. I’m also trying to create a trade route that is inspired by the Santa Fe trail, but I could use some help.
