Do you ever get in the mood to listen to songs that make you cry?

I'm not really going through a bad time but I had a pretty rough time emotionally in my 20s so it's possible that's just planted a preference in me. I used to do it in my 20s sometimes prior to that too when I was in touch with my emotions.

I've been listening to music from back in the day and I just get in the mood to listen to really emotionally intense music and sometimes I just let the tears roll.

An example, someone made a comment about how much they loved "I'm sorry, Mom" by Taylor awhile back in a comment under another Taylor song and it had me putting it on and I started crying thinking of my mom, who I love a lot and am grateful for. I felt my heart just break for her and her struggles in life. I'm a grown ass woman now, no reason to be crying, but I just let myself cry the tears and it felt simply wonderful.

I'm not really sharing these stories because I have a lot of trauma coming back to me when I listen to songs, but because I feel like there's a lot of songs that have really helped me feel empathy, compassion, and understanding for myself and others in ways I couldn't have felt without the song that handed me that emotion. Even if, at the time, it was a rough thing to feel.

American Pie is another one that makes me feel so many emotions.

I don't know what's different about now versus whenever I listen to songs, I just know I hit that point and get in the mood to listen to some emotional music and I let myself get emotional, and it feels like my heart is healing. I don't know what to call the feeling because it's not sad or tragic or anything. It's just emotional, and I get to let these feelings go and move on from them. I can understand that might be weird to some people, but I genuinely find listening to music a lot of times to be therapeutic.
