Why do some Lithuanians think that Lithuania is a great country to work and live in, when it is clearly not?

Pretty much as the title says. I was talking to some Lithuanian guy, and he seemed very proud of Lithuanian living conditions, with the money you can earn and the prices you have to pay.

That moment I realized why he thought like that. He earned x amount of money as a salary, and he thought that that was the only money people could possibly get in Lithuania, or that all the prices were the same everywhere in Lithuania. Then I realized that that it is a bigger problem than I thought was, and it is a serious problem in Lithuania, that Lithuanians only see the right side of things, and don't really look at the big picture.

I personally feel like I am being treated like an animal in Lithuania. I am 18 years old, I earn a minimum wage, but I have to pay tax as well as some other obligatory stuff, with which I am left with about 600 Eur. The first thing I expect to be able to afford is a flat, but it is much more complicated than that. I am living in a village, so I can get a 3 room flat, a 60 sqm flat, for 200-250 Eur, but with the bills it is 300-350 Eur. I guess that is not as bad as it sounds, because I have 300 Eur left to eat with. Sounds okay, until you find out how expensive the food is in Lithuania. A loaf of bread is 1.5, a liter of regular milk is 1 Eur, a 4 pack of eggs is 1.5. I guess I'm getting a bit off topic, but it just makes me angry, because I have to live in the poorest country in the EU.
