An observation on the polyglot community

I don't want to offend anyone, I just wanted to make an observation. Having learned some basic phrases in 20 different languages and having acquaintances who speak more than 4, I've noticed that polyglots know a few phrases and words in a large number of languages, but they rarely know more than 3-4 languages at native level. Just a thought after all the videos I've watched on YouTube.
