What is the middle class for a 1-person household in NYC?

I recently saw an article from 2021 that claimed for a 1-person household in NYC, middle class is defined as:

* Lower middle class income: $63,000-$78,000
* Middle class income: $78,000-$100,000
* Upper middle class income: $100,000-$125,000

Do you think this is accurate for a single person in NYC? Living in a studio in Manhattan, paying off student loans, not saving for a 401(k), and having no emergency fund I would love to make that much money.

If I saw an article from 2023 that claimed a single person in NYC was middle class at $90,000-$120,000, I would believe it. What are your thoughts on this?
