What are some budget meals for 2 people?

I dig into cooking and want to explore options but I have a girlfriend who lives together with me and we need to make sure that we save up enough for a house. We could also dig further into new flavours and recipes. Any tips are welcome!<br><br>Edit: Thank you all so much for being so kind and giving me such great tips! The goal is to save up for a house and buy it, I have a small apartment but want something bigger with a garden, is that a bad thing? I thought that what I posted asks for is so simple and normal.
