Hi all, I’m mid-twenties, I went straight into college after high school, double majored in teaching and speech language pathology, graduated with a near 4.0, got a job right away in teaching in my hometown and saved up enough to buy a house.

I now work in a different field in my specialty area, make 30k a year, own a house (no mortgage) that I live in with my new boyfriend in a high growth area, and have saved up a decent amount of money, and overall I’m doing fine enough to be able to afford the basics, I’m healthy and I’m comfortable, but I’m constantly stressed about this economy, I’m worried that I’m not making the good choices that I should be because god forbid the economy (more) tanks, and I’m worried I’ll be screwed. I’m mid-twenties, I’m probably in the minority of people that has paid off their car loan, is chipping away at their student loans, but has made less than 30k per year for the majority of their working life.

Am I the minority in this situation? I’m sure that there are others who are out there living paycheck to paycheck, living in debt, and struggling to make ends meet. Is is possible to get by in this economy on this amount in a high-growth area? Is it possible that I could be doing better, but I just don’t know that I could be? Are there tips and tricks that I am not aware of? Does this situation sound pretty much impossible to anyone else?

Am I making a huge mistake by continuing to work in a field that I am passionate about?

TLDR - 26f with house, some savings, no car loan, working on student loans and making 30k, working in field I’m passionate about, concerned I’m not making the best choices.
