Has anybody ever come close to invading russia?

So I was watching a video about d-day and it got me to thinking, has anybody every actually come close to invading Russia? Or has everybody just been deterred by the Russian winter?<br><br>I know that the Mongols did it once, but that was a long time ago. I also know that the Nazis tried during WW2 but got crushed, but the Nazis tried to invade loads of places. I'm just interested to know if anybody else has tried.
