Why do people think ChatGPT is only a tool, like a saw or dynamite?

I see this all the time. People say they are fine with ChatGPT, it's only a tool, it's the person who uses it that is important.

No. It's not. This is a very badly thought through view of things. A saw is just a saw. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with a saw itself. Same with dynamite, which has many practical and important uses in the world. Both of them can be used for good or evil. Sure. But the thing itself is not the problem.

But ChatGPT is. The only reason it even exists is to replace human labour. There is nothing fundamentally important or necessary about it.

Secondly, even if you think a saw or dynamite is just a tool and can only be used for good or evil depending on the person, dynamite is heavily regulated. Saw's aren't, but that's precisely because they are not dangerous. Not because of this view of "tools".
