My business has used Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) for years, and I've often complained about the cost. But until yesterday, I hadn't realized what a great deal we've been getting.

To me, Microsoft 365 is very expensive. But to small businesses, it's about to become even more so.

Until yesterday, I had no idea that small businesses were getting a great deal on Microsoft Office. While my very small business is paying $6 per user per month, small businesses with an employee count of 300 or less were (until yesterday) getting that same Microsoft 365 software for a mere $1.33 per employee.

It's all because of the "Microsoft 365 Business Basic" plan, which charges only $1.33 per employee. That's a deal I am no longer eligible for, as my business is just large enough (301 employees) to have lost access to those prices.

But if you're a small business with 300 people or less, you still have access to a plan that is less than one quarter the price we're paying. That is until yesterday. Small business is facing a price hike of nearly 4x per employee.
