Hi all! Hopefully you’ll find my story interesting and help me prepare for the next step in a career in tech. I’ll spare you most of the details, but here’s a brief rundown….
I went to college for 2 years, then dropped out to work in construction. I continued on a building a construction career until I was laid off in march. On a whim I applied to work at our local Amazon warehouse. I didn’t realize how physically demanding it would be. I quit last week and yesterday went back to construction.

I’ve always loved the idea of coding and I’ve dabbled with it here and there when I was bored. When I was laid off in march, I decided I’m 25 now, and want to pursue a career in tech. It’s something I’ll actually enjoy for once and I know I’ll be able to provide for my family when the next recession hits.

I spent every waking moment from march till june learning python and producing projects, most of them small, but I have a few bigger ones.
I also did a software developer internship with a friend of a friend who runs his own software consulting business. He was kind enough to walk me through his process and actually even got paid for my work on a few projects.

So….
I know I’m not ready to jump into a career as a software developer yet, but I’m close. I’ve been dreading the amazon thing so I didn’t put in the work, so I’m gonna start that again tonight.

I’m not in a good spot to go back to school, so what’s my next move? Should I just keep grinding on projects and applying?

TL;DR: I’m 25 and want to be a software developer but laid off and had to go back to construction, where do I go from here?
