Among other things, the debt ceiling is a way to keep the Executive Branch from bankrupting our nation. It provides Congress with a way to tell the President to slow down. It gives Congress a way to draw a line in the sand and say, "Enough is enough." It gives Congress a way to put some checks on the President's power to borrow money.<br><br>Suspending the debt limit means Congress no longer has that power. It means the President can borrow as much money as he or she wants. It means the President can do whatever he or she wants, whenever he or she wants.<br><br>Suspending the debt limit is stupid.
