Do you find flash fiction pointless?

This is a question asked out of curiosity, and to understand. I'm not rejecting the concept of flash fiction, but I just don't understand the purpose of it. I find it to be pointless, and I don't believe it should be considered part of "serious" literature, but I am open to being educated.
